Obituaries published in Mundelein Newspapers
The Mundelein Review, published by the Pioneer Press, and the Mundelein News, published by Lakeland Press are both weekly newspapers. For the purposes of this index, MR = Mundelein Review, and MN = Mundelein News. This index contains only the name of the deceased.
The Mundelein Review and the Mundelein News both carry full obituaries every week. Full obituaries usually contain biographical information about the deceased, including the names of other family members. The Mundelein News also has death notices. These very short announcements give only the name of the deceased and the name of the funeral home handling the arrangements. In this index, death notices will be indicated by a (DN) after the name of the deceased.
The Herald was a weekly newspaper, published by Paddock Circle Newspapers Inc. It came in several editions, designed to appeal to residents of several Lake County towns. The library owns the mircofilm for this newspaper for the time period April 1971 through March 1984. To view the index for this project, goto: Vital Records published in The Herald
The maiden name of a deceased married woman is included in the index if it was either stated in the obituary or could be reasonably deduced from the information in the obituary. A question mark will appear after names that we had to make our best guess. If an obituary indicates that a woman was married more than once, the index provide the name(s) when given. Thus, if Mary Roe married John Doe, and then Ron Toe, the index would read "nee Roe, also Doe."
