Older Phone Books in Our Collection
During February 2000, the Dontech Company donated original early twentieth century phonebooks to Illinois libraries. Fremont Public Library owns several original phonebooks. We also have photocopies of other local phonebooks.
We own originals and/or photocopies of the following years for the Libertyville/Mundelein area (* denotes that we own the original):
The originals are in very fragile condition. They have been photocopied onto acid free paper. These copies are located in the Local History vertical file at the library, and may be studied any time the library is open.
At present, we have transcripts of the August 1912 and July 1927 phonebooks available on our website. This was made possible by the generosity of our library volunteers, who have donated their time to put this information into our computers. In the future, we hope to include more information from these books on our site.
As with all transcriptions, errors are possible. If you believe you have found an error in our information, please e-mail us.
