The library raised money for the new building in the late 1990s by selling memorial tiles. These tiles have had an interesting life ever since. Years ago, the tiles were removed from their original location under the canopy because they are slippery when wet. The memorial tiles’ new location along the front sidewalk was no longer practical due to the new ADA requirements of the updated sidewalk. Our intent was to place them in areas where they could be enjoyed but not stepped on, but the board of trustees looked at every feasible option and were unable to find a suitable place that was also safe for patrons. The board decided to replace the memorial tiles with 2 pieces of artwork which can now be seen in the library's entrance. The mirror does NOT include the inscriptions which were phrases such as "Look Behind You" but it does include names of people and businesses. The names are placed in alphabetical order to the best of our ability. Take a look!
