Taxes

The IRS sends very few forms out in paper to libraries and citizens. All of the forms we have received this year are available on the 2nd floor of the library. Reference staff are happy to print out two copies of any forms you require for free. We are unable to print out instruction booklets for free, but can show you a computer where you can view them or print out your own at 10¢ per page.

AARP Tax Preparation Services

One-hour appointments are available on Thursdays 2:30-6:30pm and Fridays 9:30am-1:30pm. You can reserve your spot at the Reference or Readers Services desk or by calling 847-918-3206.

This service is free and available to anyone, and is specifically designed for people over 50. AARP will prepare and file the return with the IRS and the state of Illinois electronically. You need to bring your Social Security card, photo ID, last year's W-2s and any other tax-related documents for 2019. You should also bring a copy of last year's taxes if AARP did not prepare your taxes last year.
