Our Teen Winter Reading Club, Snow is Falling, Books Are Calling, will begin in one week.  Did you know you can download either an eBook or an eAudiobook to your smartphone?  Works on iPhones and most Android phones.  Bookmarks that tell you how will be on display in the Teen Zone starting December 17.  Your reward for picking up a reading log at the Youth Services Desk is a 1 GB flashdrive.  You'll have until Saturday, March 30, to read (or listen to) 3 books.  TURN IN YOUR COMPLETED LOG TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE GRAND PRIZE:  AN IPOD NANO!

SNOW IS FALLING, BOOKS ARE CALLING!  Teen Winter Reading Club starts early this year--Monday, December 17, so you can take advantage of your free time over Winter Break.  All you need to do is pick up a reading log at the Youth Services Desk (and pick up a small prize just for registering), read or listen to 3 books, and write a short review.  Turn in your completed log and you'll be entered into our Grand Prize Drawing.  The Winter Reading Club runs until Saturday, March 30.  

Be sure to check out the "New Fiction" cart in the Teen Zone--there's plenty of books to get you started in the Reading Club!



Sign up for our next FIT program--Iron Chef: Holiday Desserts, scheduled for Friday, December 21, from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. We'll provide the ingredients; your team will create, within a certain time limit,  an awesome Holiday Dessert!    There's no cooking or baking involved.  Each entry will be judged (by library staff members) for creativity and taste, and prizes will be awarded to the winning team.   Pizza will be served before the competition.  This is for teens in grades 7 through 12.  Sign up online or at the Youth Services Desk.  Maybe YOU will be the next Iron Chef!

32 teens participated in our Halloween Party/Scavenger Hunt last Friday.  Teams answered questions and found hidden objects in an effort to earn Frankenstein's body parts.  At the end of the night, Team "Vampires"  (you know who you are!) won with the most clues answered.    The Zombies came in second.  Four lucky teens won copies of This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein, awarded in a random drawing, and everyone went home with candy.   Congratulations to all!

We are extending our Teen Winter Reading Club by two weeks:  by beginning on Monday, December 17,  you'll have the benefit of reading during winter break!  Read or listen to 3 books; review them and turn in your reading log  by March 31 to be entered into our Grand Prize Drawing.  Details will follow.

Teens from across the country voted for their favorite titles of 2011.  These are the winners:
