What's New in the Teen Zone?

We're shifting books in the Teen Zone to make it a little easier for our books to breathe.  Ask a librarian if you can't find what you're looking for.

Don't forget our "Where to Turn" bookmarks on the wooden display: they highlight resources to help with problems you may encounter.  Take a look!

Our New Books cart is filled with the latest in YA fiction.  Nearby is a new display of the 2015 Abraham Lincoln Award nominees (the 2014 winner is John Green's The Fault in our Stars).

The next "Take It and Make It" craft for teens will be available on April 1.  Quantities are limited, so don't delay!  The next Games & Pizza program is scheduled for Friday, April 4, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.





Our Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate program is scheduled for Friday, Feburary 21, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.  We'll have chocolate fondue (dipping sweets into warm chocolate) and then play Hershey's Kisses Bingo!  Join us for good food and fun.  (For teens in Grades 7-12).

The American Library Association recently announced their picks of the best Young Adult books of 2013.  Come into the Teen Zone and take a look at our displays.

You still have three weeks to turn in your Groundbreaking Reads Winter Library Club for Teens reading log.  March 1 is the deadline to be eligible for the Kindle Fire HD raffle, so get yours in today!





New Year, New Programs! (For teens in grades 7-12)


"TAKE IT AND MAKE IT"  We will feature a different take-home craft each month, starting with January:  instructions and materials to wrap your earbuds to prevent them from tanglng.   Ask for it at the Youth Services Desk--quantities are limited, so be sure to come in soon! 

D.I.Y. CRAFT PROGRAM: Friday, January 17, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. Join us for pizza and dessert--and a huge variety of do-it-yourself craft projects!  Register online or at the Youth Services Desk. 

GAMES AND PIZZA:  Friday, January 31, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. Learn to play the Chinese game Mahjong - or choose from a variety of board games, LEGOS, or cards.  Bring friends!

Don't forget:  our Teen Winter Reading Club, GROUNDBREAKING READScontinues until March 1.  Read or listen to three books, then review them in your reading log which will be entered into our prize drawing for a Kindle Fire HD.  Come to the Youth Services Desk for your log and take your choice of Divergent movie posters just by joining.

Check out our cart of New Fiction:  Champion, Marie Lu's last book in the LEGEND series, will soon be available; Fallout, the sequel to The Compound, is ready to be checked out, as is Rick Yancey's Final Descent, which wraps up the popular MONSTRUMOLOGIST series.    

Saturday, December 21, is the first day of our annual Teen Winter Reading Club: GROUNDBREAKING READS.  Read or listen to three books by Saturday, March 1, to be eligible for our Grand Prize Drawing: a Kindle Fire HD! Pick up a reading log at the Youth Services Desk and choose a poster from the upcoming Divergent movie (while supplies last).  Write reviews of your three books in the log and return it to us by March 1 and you will be automatically be entered into the drawing.  

Getting bored with the holidays??  Join us for pizza, music, board games and LEGOS  on Friday, December 27, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.  (Please register either online or at the Youth Services Desk).

Visit the Teen Zone over the next few days--we have the Teens Top Ten on display, as well as the first volumes of series you may want to try. And--don't miss all the NEW YA fiction and audiobooks.

Sign up for our two December teen programs:  Gingerbread House Decorating Contest on Friday, December 13, and Teen Games on Friday, December 27.  Both programs are from 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. and are for teens in Grades 7 through 12.
